Petrol stations are plentiful in Katerini and along the coastal highway. In mountain areas near Olympus, fill up before heading to remote trailheads. Parking in Pieria Towns
Katerini center has paid parking zones (blue lines) where you purchase tickets from kiosks. White line areas are free but often full. Litochoro offers free street parking in most areas, though spaces near the main square fill quickly in summer. Beach resort parking is generally free except in peak July-August when some areas become paid zones.
Toll Roads
The A1 motorway (Egnatia Odos extension) that runs through Pieria has several toll stations. Keep some cash or a credit card ready. Toll from Katerini to Thessaloniki is approximately β¬2-3. The coastal road (old national road) is toll-free but slower.
Mountain Driving
Roads to Mount Olympus trailheads are paved but narrow with sharp curves. Drive slowly, use horn before blind corners, and watch for hikers.
